The objective of this project is to strengthen human rights and business responsive, due diligence mechanisms that hold duty bearers to account and increase access to justice in the extractive sector, deliver to marginalized groups by CSOs, unions and networks.
Himiza has executed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO) –Tanzania to implement the CLARITY project for three years from 2021 to 2024. The actors in this project are Local Government, Large and Small Scale Miners as well as community members.
The intended project outcome is to ensure that marginalized Women, Youth and People with Disabilities (PWDs) around extractive community are able to hold duty bearers into account on both socio-economic rights, human rights, gender inclusion, and environment protection. The project also intends to achieve a well governed, accountable, transparent extractive sector that guarantees effective participation and benefit to the Youth, Women and PWDs.
The activities implemented alongside this project are provide legal education and legal aid, form and establish sum committees responsible for Public Expenditure Tracking (PET) and empower paralegals on access to judicial and non-judicial mechanisms.
